How to resolve serologic difficulties in the transfusion service

LECTURE DESCRIPTION:

This workshop will provide instruction in correlating serological and clinical data to resolve transfusion service problems.  The laboratorian can then determine the best problem solving techniques and ultimately select appropriate blood for transfusion.

 

OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the workshop, the participant will be better able to: 

·         Evaluate initial serological data in relationship to clinical data. 

·         Determine possible problem solving techniques based upon initial data. 

·         Evaluate clinical data and results of simple and complex problem solving tools in order to select appropriate blood for transfusion.
